Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5 Landing by shelbs2 Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5 Landing by shelbs2
One of the reasons I made it down to Paine Field on a little information I had received

Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5 landing after a test flight at Paine Field (KPAE). That BMW 801 definitely doesn't sound like any radial engine I'm used to hearing.

Aircraft is owned by the Flying Heritage Collection

I would have shat myself if I were in the ground forces and knowing this thing fired 210 mm rockets.

May I know, why it sound different.

Those planes got a mechanical computer, which control all important part of the engine like fuel injection, propeller position and other things to make this plane run as good as possible and maybe the computer let the engine works with other setting than a pilot does.

Nice take. For some reasons proportions feels little off, and engine cover looks a little different too. Is this replika?

Such an amazing aircraft! Is this one of the only planes flying with an 801 radial instead of a P&W R-2800?

That one is powered by a Shvetsov ASh-82T engine. Here's the link to it's first flight: [link]

Is that Steve Hinton flying? I'm guessing he will be over here in two weeks for Legends. Lets hope he brings the aircraft too. :P :D I won't hold my breath. :)

ha yup! they called him up here to fly the IL-2, but since that got pushed back till Sept 15th (poor thing is in pieces in the hanger. guess it was a real mess after she was delivered from Russia), they put him to work flying the -190!

And well I dont know if he's got the range to get her all the way across, FHC might come looking for their airplane xD.

Course if he did, he could always use the "Uh I thought I was in the US" excuse like the -190 pilot that accidently landed in England during WW2

One can dream. :) Though we wouldn't want to overshadow SNAFUs debut, so I guess we can leave the great plane robbery until next year.
