Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5 Taxi by shelbs2 Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5 Taxi by shelbs2
Focke Wulf Fw-190A-5 taxiing past after its performance. The pilot that day was Steve Hinton, the pilot that took the racer "Red Baron", a heavily modified P-51, to 499mph. He put on quite a show I must say!

FHC Fly Day, Paine Field (KPAE)

Is this an original 190 or a reproduction? I don't recall any originals being airworthy.

Do you know whether that's a FlugWerke a/c?

That's a rather uncommon paint scheme, correct me if I'm wrong...

actually it was a very common one on the Eastern Front, mostly among ground attack units I believe. These are the exact markings this aircraft flew in over on the Eastern Front

the camo scheme is correct, but what wrong is it's kinda too bright and shiny......the one from the wartime should be darker and have a matte finish :)

heh I know, but yes this was a very common pattern (though myself would have painted it in the luftwaffe grey one, oh well they went for historical accuracy lol)

Haha ok, thanks for the info! Cos' I thought the shades of colours looked abit iffy, but seeing the way things are preserved and repainted I give the benefit of the doubt...

Please accept my sincere envy! I would so love to check one of these flying, or just taxiing! But a neat shot anyway!

Just a few weeks ago Steve Hinton was piloting the P-40F over Duxford during Flying Legends. Great shot! I always like to see the pilot getting some attention in aviation photography!
