I remember being a kid and standing next to one, realizing these things were BIG.

Nice one. How did you avoid the reflections off the silver wings? Looks great! :)

Nice shot. This was the one plane that all the Wermacht troops feared. Stephen Ambrose mentioned in "Citizen Soldiers" that whenever he mentioned the P-47 to the former German soldiers, they almost instinctively looked over their shoulder just to check.

A wonderful plane! Could take a hell of a beating and still keep flying. One of my favorite war birds. Along with the hell cat.

that it could ^^
wasnt uncommon for them to come back with 1/3 of the wing gone, a few engine cylinders shot away, and that thing would still keep going

Ah, beautiful angle and decoration, indeed! ;D Im afraid that, with some very few exceptions, I have never been a jet-fan, and I think we can find a whole universe of sound and colour among warbirds that is non-existant (or at least not so varied) among jets...
That is precisely something I emphasized in a video on a Rafale I saw in an air-show last month Ive been working on, and which Ill send to YouTube beside some other aircraft videos I already have there...

heh yeah, i'm with ya there. the modern day "computers with wings" dont seem to have the same "feel" to em as the old prop jobs did

and one thing i realized after the show was someone had screwed with my normal camera settings. would've had even better shots had that not happened...
