Sl633 Takeoff by shelbs2 Sl633 Takeoff by shelbs2
Supermarine Spitfire Mk9e SL633 taking off for its flight during the Paine Field GA day.

Somethin funny happened with this one during its performance. As I was running up the hill trying to beat it taking off (Which I did!), there was a bagpiper from the bagpipe band running after me. He started to play his bagpipes as Sl633 and Impatient Virgin did their flybys. Well, some little Beechcraft twin interupted the performance and the two Merlins had to pull back. This caused the bagpiper to run out of songs. So he asked what we would like to hear, and during the final pass, I got to hear what the Star Wars theme sounds like on the bagpipes XD

I took this picture in Everett, Washington in the US. This spitfire actually served with the Czech Air Force and was flown by Flight Lieutenant Karel Posta at many air displays around the country in 1946. It was later sent to Isreal to fly for their small air force in 1948. Upon serving there for several years, it was later sent to Burma. and after changing hands several times, it was restored in Duxford, England and later sent here to the Historic Flight Foundation

Thanks for info and very nice take. I doubt we even have one of those in this condition :-( Czechoslovak air fighters and bombers was almost only ones who actually fought in WW2, and rather bravely, then they was described as capitalist dogs, thrown into prisons and labourcamps, and many died there or shot on breaktrough attempt. Even though we now don't have communism rules over our land, people still don't know them, and doesn't care about our heroes.
